What's new in 2010-1 SQL Server?

This latest release is based on PureCM 2010-1 and its name introduces the biggest change: support for SQL Server. But there's more that merits your attention.

SQL Server support

PureCM Standard already supports SQLite as its free and low-maintenance database to store repository data. Now, SQL Server is added to the list of supported databases, allowing users to benefit from existing expertise and infrastructure. Together with PureCM's highly efficient stream-based branching, the new SQL Server database ensures high scalability and full control of database administration.

Move features and workspaces with changes

This sounds like a small change, but becomes a great time-saver if you're working with (feature) branching. You can now move an uncompleted feature between versions, even if changes have already been submitted. And because there might be some work in progress in your workspace, too, PureCM will automatically preserve your changes when you switch a workspace.

Usability enhancements for the Projects view

The project view is a great place to keep track of your ongoing development. You can branch off new versions and features, create release snapshots or access the project history. With the latest 2010-1 SQL Server release, you can now launch the merge and shared component wizards from the Project view. This makes it even easier to merge changes or to set up shared folders between projects.

Additional enhancements

  • Retrieve file data and diffs using the .NET API
  • Facilitate database administration for SQLite using the command line interface
  • Use Visual Studio windows and progress bars when working with the enhanced plugin
