PureCM adds SQL Server support with its latest release

Press Release

PureCM Now Supporting SQL Server with the Latest Release of its Version
    Control Solution

Data Storage options for the PureCM Change and Configuration Management
solution now include SQL Server, SQLite and its native database

29 July 2010 - PureCM, the configuration management specialist,
today announced a major new release of its core SCM solution, PureCM 2010-1
SQL Server. This move to support market-leading RDBMS systems brings proven
scalability and database management capabilities to software development teams.

"We're excited to add SQL Server to our range of supported databases to satisfy
customer feedback" said Mike Shepherd, Technical Consultant at PureCM. "Being
able to deploy PureCM with SQL Server allows companies to leverage their existing
expertise and infrastructure, making it much easier to manage scalability,
    backup, reporting or high-availability requirements."

Use of existing resources and near-zero administration

The choice between SQL Server and SQLite also allows development teams to
make the most of their current resources. Teams with dedicated DB administrators
can leverage their expertise, while smaller teams might prefer the free and
embedded SQLite backend with minimal administrative overhead.

Further enhancements in this release include:

Improved progress reporting. Thanks to the full task
tracking and configuration management capabilities, PureCM Professional
allows for real-time status reporting on project progress. Additional reports
like task burndown or tasks per developer are now available to development
managers to get additional insight into team velocity and developer availability.

New "released tasks" finder. Development or Release
Managers can now quickly find all releases that included a specific task,
such as a bug fix. Especially in environments with components shared between
projects or multiple parallel (custom) versions, this feature improves transparency
and saves valuable time by providing this information on a simple mouse
      click.

Facilitated merging and sharing administration. Development
managers now get merging and shared component wizards from the Projects
view. The merging wizard allows for user-friendly and visual merging directly
between branches, while the component manager simplifies setting up shared
      folders between projects.

This latest version builds on the integration and automation features introduced
earlier this year, and includes many new features that allow development teams
to adopt agile practices where and when it most suits their needs. PureCM
doesn't dictate the way that developers should work, it aims at letting developers
and teams get on with their jobs seamlessly and unobtrusively, helping to
    maximise their productivity.

Available in two editions

PureCM 2010-1 is available in two editions: PureCM Professional and PureCM Standard. Both editions include the proven version control core and integration with Visual Studio and Eclipse, giving users a lightweight yet highly scalable solution. PureCM Professional adds integrated work item tracking, merge automation and reporting to provide users with an end-to-end solution. A free trial of PureCM 2010-1 SQL Server is available from: http://www.purecm.com/downloads.php

PureCM Product Review on MacTech

19 July 2010 - MacTech,
the leading publication for Mac technology and development, has reviewed PureCM
Professional 2010-1 for Mac. The review highlighted the task integration and
feature branch automation as strong points, setting PureCM apart from other
    tools in the market.

The MacTech review also points out the end-to-end focus on tasks and features,
providing a project history with much richer content. This is especially true
for parallel development, where PureCM can keep the link between task and
changes even if they get merged across branches.

PureCM Brings Benefits of Agile ALM to Development Teams

Press Release

PureCM Brings Benefits of Agile ALM to Development Teams with New 2010-1 Release

15 April 2010 - PureCM, the change and configuration management specialist,
has announced a major new release of its core SCM solution, PureCM 2010-1.
This includes a range of new and enhanced features to support agile application
lifecycle management (ALM), enabling development teams to improve their productivity,
shorten release cycles, and collaborate more effectively.

Now supporting agile release planning

PureCM 2010-1's agile planning capabilities fully support working with
project releases, iterations and backlogs, linking these to configuration
management to ensure that any rescheduling is fully reflected. 2010-1 also
automates task tracking, making parallel development easy by matching tasks
to releases. This means developers automatically retrieve the right project
configurations, saving time and reducing the risk of errors.

Another significant enhancement is support for isolated features. When starting
work on a feature PureCM Professional automatically creates a feature stream
and maps the developer workspace against it, avoiding the need for a developer
to create a branch manually. In addition, PureCM Professional automatically
updates features with any changes from their parent version as a default.
In the event of an update conflict, the feature owner is automatically notified
via his user dashboard so he can resolve the conflict using PureCM's
    visual resolve tool.

Furthermore, feature owners receive a notification to integrate the feature
back into the parent code line as soon as developers complete a feature. PureCM
Professional also enables a meaningful release history, enabling features
and tasks to be seen in the project history; not individual file changes or
intermediate submits. So even if a feature has been submitted against multiple
times for completion, it only shows up once to allow for easy merging to other
versions or even a roll back.

Improved integration with 3rd party solutions

Additional features include multiple performance and ergonomic enhancements
for developers. PureCM 2010-1 fully integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio,
giving developers the option to work entirely within their IDE. Features such
as shelving and unshelving changes, or integrating changes from other branches
are now directly available within Visual Studio, helping to boost productivity.

Further key capabilities in 2010-1 are its support for build automation
and continuous integration. Together with its open SDKs, which enable custom
integrations, PureCM 2010-1 allows teams to work with the toolsets they prefer.

Mike Shepherd, Technical Consultant of PureCM said: "This latest version
builds on the integration features we introduced last year, and includes many
new features that allow development teams to adopt agile practices where and
when it most suits their needs. PureCM doesn't dictate the way that developers
should work, it simply lets developers and teams get on with their jobs seamlessly
and unobtrusively, helping to maximise their productivity."

Building on the changes introduced in 2009

PureCM 2010-1 extends many of the features introduced in the solution in 2009,
including plugins for Windows Explorer, bug tracking tools OnTime and Gemini,
as well as multiple out-of-the-box integrations for build and modelling tools.
It also includes enhanced .NET and Java SDKs for facilitated custom integration.

PureCM 2010-1 is available in two editions: PureCM Standard and PureCM Professional.
Both editions include the proven version control core, and integration with
Visual Studio and Eclipse, giving users a lightweight but highly scalable
solution. Optimised for more complex and larger projects, PureCM Professional
adds agile planning, task tracking and reporting to provide users with a fully
    featured ALM solution.

PureCM Product Review on DevConnections

    10 March 2010 - DevConnections
has recently reviewed PureCM Professional with a special emphasis on its
enhanced Visual Studio integration. DevConnections is the new brand for a
number of well-known and popular Windows oriented portals such as asp.net
    PRO or Windows IT PRO.

The
review confirmed PureCM's ease of deployment and use, especially for developers
working with Visual Studio and using more advanced features for parallel development.
It is based on the current PureCM 2009-2 release, so doesn't cover the upcoming
release planning and task tracking functionality yet. For interested readers,
a preview on the latter is available on the PureCM website now (http://www.purecm.com/start10-1).

Optimised Visual Studio Integration with PureCM 2009-2

Press Release

Developers get Version Control with Optimised Visual Studio Integration with
  latest PureCM 2009-2 Release

12 November 2009 - PureCM, the configuration management specialist,
has announced the latest version of its software configuration management (SCM)
solution, PureCM 2009-2. This major release offers much tighter integration
into the development environment of software development teams, boosting productivity
  and making collaboration easier.

Developers can now use the enhanced Visual Studio integration to easily perform
task-based development within their IDE. Features originally available in PureCM
only are now available directly within Visual Studio, providing developers with
intuitive control of their changes and complete transparency of project progress.

Enhanced Visual Studio integration boosts developer productivity

The enhanced Visual Studio integration dramatically improves ease-of-use and
productivity along the whole developer workflow. Developers can switch to project
branches without rebinding solutions and group their current changes within
their IDE to reflect different tasks. Collaboration is facilitated as features
like shelving and unshelving changes for code review, or integrating changes
from other branches are now directly available within Visual Studio.

"Prior to the launch of this enhanced Visual Studio integration, PureCM
already allowed developers to perform basic source control tasks such as checkout
or checkin via Microsoft's SCC API", explains Mike Shepherd, technical
consultant at PureCM. "While the SCC standard is great to integrate with
a wide variety of tools used in the development lifecycle, it has some serious
limitations if you want to support collaboration features such as shelving.
Offering an enhanced integration was the logical consequence, because of the
opportunities it gives us to make life easier for developers with future releases."

Rod Weir, PRD Software said: "PureCM 9.2 gives much tighter integration
with Visual Studio, which means developers can do key tasks such as managing
changesets, merging changes and getting line-by-line histories to find bugs
directly in Visual Studio, instead of having to swap continually between the
Visual Studio and CM tool user interfaces. It saves us time and helps avoid
  errors."

Up to 400% performance increase

The enhanced Visual Studio integration is complemented with new plugins for
Windows Explorer and Axosoft's bug tracking tool OnTime. They add to the many
out-of-the-box integrations already available, including various build and modelling
tools. For users interested in custom integration, the .NET and Java SDKs have
been enhanced to include the latest PureCM features. This assures that users
get easy access to project data from their favourite tool, regardless of their
  role in the development lifecycle.

While PureCM has always focused on performance to optimise support for distributed
development, the latest 2009-2 release marks another substantial improvement
with up to 400% faster submit performance when compared to its predecessor.
In combination with highly efficient delta transfer and data compression, PureCM
2009-2 is claimed to be one of the fastest SCM solutions on the market.

New PureCM editions tailored to address different customer needs

Together with the 2009-2 release, PureCM also introduces two editions of their
SCM solution: PureCM Standard and PureCM Professional. With both editions including
the proven version control core, and integration with Visual Studio and Eclipse,
users get a lightweight but highly scalable solution. Optimised for more complex
and larger projects, PureCM Professional adds automated change inheritance across
branches, issue tracking and reporting to provide users with a fully featured
  change and configuration management solution.

About PureCM

PureCM is a Software Configuration Management (SCM) solution that controls,
tracks and visualises changes to digital assets. PureCM facilitates and accelerates
software development in team environments accommodating best practises such

New OnTime bridge available

07 July 2009 - PureCM has released its first issue tracking connector, the
OnTime bridge. This solution allows users to tightly integrate the two solutions
to get a complete and seamless insight into their development process, improving
    transparency and team collaboration.

The PureCM OnTime Bridge is a Windows Service which periodically synchronises
OnTime defects, enhancements, and incidents with PureCM issues. So when a
defect is assigned to a developer, a PureCM issue is automatically created.
When the developer submits his/her work associating the PureCM issue, the
    OnTime defect is automatically updated.

This solution combines the strenghts of the two tools, making use of OnTime's
release planning and help desk functionality, while fully supporting automated
reviews and status updates using PureCM.

Automated change inheritance now supported in PureCM 2009-1

Press Release

PureCM makes automated parallel development accessible to all

07 April 2009 - PureCM today announced the latest version of their software
configuration management solution, PureCM 2009-1. This new release allows companies
of any size to benefit from automated yet fully versioned parallel development
without incurring the administrative overhead or price tag of other solutions
  in the market.

With economic pressure still rising and software development
companies looking for ways to achieve more with less, streamlining the
development process can offer a welcome solution to increase productivity.
PureCM 2009-1 helps development managers to do so supporting agile best
practices and reducing human error by automating tasks.

"Switching to PureCM has already helped us to step up our development
to the next level. We have been able to increase quality and productivity implementing
task branching and continuous integration, and PureCM has allowed us to do so
easily and with minimal investment," said Rod Weir, managing director at
PRD Software. PureCM 2009-1 now further facilitates parallel development offering
increased project visibility and automated change tracking.

Automated change tracking across the project hierarchy

According to Stephen Worthington, development manager at PureCM, defining a
project hierarchy and introducing branching is but the initial challenge to
parallel development. "Once you know how you want to work, a number of
solutions will allow you to create branches for teams or individual features",
he said. "But the real issue for development managers is about how to keep
track of what is going on in each branch and keeping related branches in sync".

PureCM 2009-1 now allows development managers to get insight
into which changes need merging in real-time. Unlike other solutions that track
merging only after it has been completed, PureCM can avoid human error by
knowing in advance where a change, e.g. a bug fix has to go. Development
managers then simply preview or confirm the merge with a mouse click, or even
let the tool merge the change automatically. In case of a merge conflict,
PureCM will suspend integration and allow the development manager to resolve
the conflict in a visual resolve tool.

New GUI views to provide developers with full transparency

PureCM 2009-1 also introduces a completely new and simplified
interface for developers. Using their cross-platform GUI, developers can see
within their private workspace on which files their colleagues are currently
working. Collaboration is further improved by the ability to preview their
completed changes before integrating them automatically into the workspace.
This solution thus combines the advantages of isolated development and
transparent collaboration in a team environment.

Together with its full support for distributed teams, PureCM
brings advanced SCM features to even the most cost-conscious development teams.
With its capability to scale to thousands of users and terabytes of data,
development managers get a solution which is fit for growth and flexible enough
to support their processes.
