Editing Files

PureCM is changeset based. As you add, edit and delete files in your workspace a local changeset is created and a changeset item is created for each file. Before you start editing a file you should check it out (unless you are working with a writable workspace). When you have finished your changes and want to upload them to the server you submit the changeset as described in the section called “Submitting Changes to the Server”. The server files are only changed when you submit the changeset.

To add a file, right-click a file which is not controlled and select 'PureCM | Add'. To checkout a file right-click a file which is controlled and select 'PureCM | Checkout'. To delete a file right-click a file which is controlled and select 'PureCM | Delete'. To revert the changes you have made to a file right-click a file which has been checked out and select 'PureCM | Revert'. These operations are also available for a folder which will do the operation for all files within the folder. The icons for the files will change after performing these operations as described in the section called “File Icons”.

Note

The files on the server will not be changed following an add, checkout or delete. The files on the server are only changed after you have submitted the changeset as described in the section called “Submitting Changes to the Server”.

To see what changes you have made to a checked-out file, right-click the file and select 'PureCM | Show Differences'. This will launch the File Differences Tool as described in the section called “Layout”.
