File Icons

The following icons are used to show the status of files in the workspace.

Table 3.1. File Icons

 StatusDefinition
ControlledThe file has been added to source control but is not currently being worked on (default).
Not ControlledThe file exists in the workspace but has not been added to source control. Use 'Add' if you want to add this file to the server.
ExcludedThe file exists in the workspace but has not been added to source control. The file has been marked as excluded so cannot be added.
Checked OutThe file is being changed.
AddingThe file is being added to source control (you need to submit to add this file to the server).
DeletingThe file is being deleted from source control (you need to submit to delete this file from the server).
LockedThe file is locked by you or someone else (look at the 'Used By' column to establish who has the lock).
Out Of DateThe file has been changed on the server. You need to run 'Update to Latest' to get the latest revision.
MissingThe file should exist in the workspace. You should either delete the file from source control using 'Delete' or get the file using 'Synchronise'.

Note

It is possible to have a combination of the above icons. For example a file might be checked out and also out of date.

The file status is also shown by the background colour of the file in the tree/list. These colours can be changed in the Chapter 14, Client Options but default to the following:

GreenBeing Changed The file is being changed. Note that this is different to 'Checked Out' because this also applies to a file which has been checked out and then checked in.
BlueBeing Changed By Others The file is being changed by another developer.
PurpleLocked By Others The file is locked by another developer. You are not therefore able to edit this file.
GreyOut Of Date The file has been changed on the server. You need to run 'Update to Latest' to get the latest revision.
RedConflict The file is being changed and has been changed on the server. In this case it is strongly recommended you 'Update to Latest' to merge your changes with the server as soon as possible. The more changes you make to the file now, the more complicated the merge is going to be.

The following icons are used to show the status of folders in the workspace.

ControlledThe folder has been added to source control (default).
Not ControlledThe folder exists in the workspace but has not been added to source control. Use Add to add this folder to source control.
ExcludedThe folder exists in the workspace but has not been added to source control. The folder has been marked as excluded so cannot be added.
AddingThe folder is being added to source control. You need to submit to add this folder to the server.
DeletingThe folder is being deleted from source control. You need to submit to delete this folder from the server.
MissingThe folder has been added to source control but does not exist in the workspace. Either delete the folder on the server using 'Delete' or get the folder using 'Synchronise'.
Mapped It is possible to map different stream folders to different locations within the workspace as described in the section called “ Multi-Path Workspaces ”.Each root mapped folder uses this icon.
