PureCM DEB Server Installer

Installs the PureCM Server daemon. The server hosts repositories (databases) of source code and related metadata. By default the server will be installed to '/opt/purecm-server' and created repositories to '/opt/purecm-server/data'. etc.).

Once installed, the server can be controlled using the usual 'init' scripts at '/etc/init.d/purecm-server' or via your system's administration service administration utilities (if applicable).

DEB Files

Installers for this platform are packaged using the Debian .deb package format. To install such a package you can either double-click on the file after download (which should invoke your system's installer GUI) or otherwise by entering the following in a command prompt (whilst running as 'root')

$dpkg -i <name of .deb>

To change the default server parameters you should edit the file '/opt/purecm-server/config.sh'. This will allow you to change the SERVER_USER (user running the purecm-daemon), SERVER_GROUP (group running the purecm-daemon) and the SERVER_PORT (port number used).

Alternatively you can edit the EXTRA_ARGS parameter. The following switches can be specified:

  • 'dbpath' : Specify the database directory
  • 'logpath' : Specify the log path
  • 'snapshotpath' : Specify the snapshot path
  • 'poll' : Use the poll based server threads
  • 'epoll' : Use the epoll based server threads
  • 'threads' : Specify the number of worker threads to use (default 4)
  • 'verbose' : Generate verbose log messages

So for example the EXTRA_ARGS parameter might be set to '--dbpath=/opt/purecm-data --threads=2 --verbose'.

System Requirements

  • 133MHz or above Pentium-compatible CPU
